Rug Cleaning Process

We will determine as much as we possibly can about the type of rug and inherent qualities that may affect cleaning. We will outline the expected results and cleaning "prescription". Our company will come to your home to pick up your rug, or you may drop off small "Cash and Carry" rugs to our shop.
You must inspect to know what to expect! We test all rugs with our cleaning solution to insure they will pass the colorfastness test. This test will determine the necessary procedures we must take to safely clean your rug.
Woven rugs, especially hand knotted rugs are designed to hide dry soil. A few years ago, the Eureka Company did a study and found that a 9 x 12 rug could hide up to 87 pounds of dirt! WOW! We use a variety of techniques to "dust" the rugs. A machine called a Rug Badger incorporates 50 high tech vibro straps creating highly focused vibrations to drive dirt out of a rug no matter how impacted. Then, every rug is dusted with our unique compressed air wands to remove the finest dry soiling. Finally, the fringe is treated with compressed air, to further remove any soiling. This is the most important step in cleaning any textile.
A final detail vacuuming is the last step in the dry soil removal.
Depending on fiber content and soiling type, the rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils.
Using a floor machine the preconditioned rug scrub for maximum soil.
Depending on the type of rug it could be rinsed with extraction equipment on both sides or washed in a wash pit designed especially for some woven rugs and Oriental Rugs.

Wash - In a submersion bath, compressed air agitation assures a complete cleaning is being performed. This Jacuzzi effect greatly improves the removal of soils.
Our exclusive Ultra pure water is used to thoroughly flushes away all remain soils and cleaning agents. The remaining water in the submersion pit is left crystal clear.
The rug is removed from the submersion pit and all water is thoroughly extracted.
Any difficult spots or stains on the fringe that may remain are treated with special solutions to increase chances of removal.
The rug is dried flat or hung to dry in a controlled environment. Proper drying is essential to avoid unnatural shrinkage.
When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers made for specialty rugs.
Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up or delivery.
